Participation has grown rapidly among high-dividend firms, while the Value-Up Index and related exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have also expanded in net assets.

The Korea Exchange said Wednesday that 718 companies had filed corporate value-up plans as of the end of April. By market, 342 are listed on the KOSPI and 376 on the KOSDAQ. A total of 130 companies newly filed disclosures in April alone, with 124 of them classified as high-dividend firms. “This is the result of sending official letters, making phone guidance calls, and providing one-on-one support to high-dividend firms that had not yet filed,” a Korea Exchange official said.

On a main disclosure basis, 714 companies submitted corporate value-up plans over the same period, including 339 KOSPI-listed firms and 375 KOSDAQ-listed firms. The combined market capitalization of disclosing companies stood at 4,695.5 trillion won ($3.4 trillion), accounting for 77.4% of the total market. For the KOSPI alone, the figure reached 4,507.2 trillion won, or 83.4% of the entire KOSPI market cap. KOSDAQ disclosing firms had a combined market cap of 188.3 trillion won, or 28.5% of the KOSDAQ total.

Participation by high-dividend firms has served as the key driver of the expansion in value-up disclosures. As of the end of April, 617 high-dividend firms had submitted corporate value-up plans. Of these, 527 were new disclosers and 90 had previously filed. By market, 280 are listed on the KOSPI and 337 on the KOSDAQ.

Shareholder returns are also expanding. Last month, KT&G decided to cancel its entire treasury stock worth 1.9 trillion won. KB Financial Group decided to cancel 1.4 trillion won in treasury shares and to acquire and cancel an additional 600 billion won. Over the past three years, treasury stock cancellations by listed companies have grown from 4.8 trillion won in 2023 to 13.9 trillion won in 2024 and 21.4 trillion won in 2025. Cash dividends over the same period rose from 43.1 trillion won to 45.8 trillion won and then to 50.9 trillion won.

Market indicators tied to the value-up program also showed strength. The Korea Value-Up Index closed at 3,017.50 on April 29, setting a fresh record high. Its cumulative return from the index’s launch on September 30, 2024, through the end of April reached 200.4%, outpacing the KOSPI’s 154.5% gain over the same period by 45.9 percentage points. Compared with the end of last year, the Value-Up Index rose 65.8%, ahead of the KOSPI’s 56.6% gain by 9.2 percentage points.

The combined net assets of the 13 value-up ETFs reached 3.1 trillion won at the end of April, up 547.8% from their initial launch.

“We plan to hold an awards ceremony and seminar for outstanding corporate value-up companies on the 27th of this month to recognize top performers and discuss the future direction of the system,” the Korea Exchange official said.

Korea Exchange The number of listed companies that have filed corporate value-up disclosures has surpassed 700, about two…

[457
6992,6993,337,6994,6991,335,864,732,6995
0":"post-9102","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-korea-exchange","8":"tag-corporate-value-up-disclosure","9":"tag-high-dividend-stocks","10":"tag-korea-exchange","11":"tag-korea-value-up-index","12":"tag-korea-value-up-program","13":"tag-kospi","14":"tag-krx","15":"tag-shareholder-returns","16":"tag-value-up-etf
["GET
