Provided by Samsung Biologics<\/p>\n<p>\u25a0 Samsung Biologics is entering the peptide pharmaceuticals sector, which is drawing attention as a core area for obesity and diabetes treatments, specifically glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) therapies, by acquiring a global peptide contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). On the 20th, Samsung Biologics announced via regulatory filing that it had signed an acquisition agreement with Swiss CDMO company PolyPeptide Group. The acquisition price is approximately 2.7 trillion won, making it the largest merger and acquisition (M&amp;A) deal in Korea\u2019s pharmaceutical and biotech industry to date. Samsung Biologics plans to complete the acquisition by the end of December this year, aiming to secure 100% of PolyPeptide Group\u2019s shares through major shareholder stake acquisition and a tender offer.
