Louisiana steel plant<\/a>\n<\/p>\nHyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel has selected Danieli, an Italian supplier to the metal industry, as its technology partner for the construction of its new $5.8 billion steel plant in Louisiana, according to a news release.\n<\/p>\n
The contracts awarded includes the supply of two electric arc furnaces with secondary metallurgy, two thick slab casters and two slab reheating furnaces, Danieli reported in the release.<\/p>\n
The announcement also noted the Energiron consortium by Tenova and Danieli has been chosen as the supplier for the direct reduction plant.\n<\/p>\n
Per the release, the DRP will be the second of its kind in the U.S.\n<\/p>\n
Pre-construction work at the Hyundai Steel site has begun during recent weeks along the west bank of the Mississippi River in the Modeste area of Ascension Parish.\n<\/p>\n
The new facilities will be constructed on around 1,800 acres in the roughly 17,000-acre RiverPlex MegaPark industrial zone near Donaldsonville.\n<\/p>\n
