Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s media office said that several social media platforms circulated fabricated reports falsely attributing remarks to the premier during an alleged meeting with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on April 21.
The office denied the reports “entirely,” stressing that they were false and “pure fiction.”
It clarified that Salam did not hold any bilateral meeting with Kallas in Luxembourg, but instead delivered a speech before European Union ambassadors collectively, noting that the speech is publicly available.
While expressing regret over some platforms relying on fabricated news and anonymous sources, the office urged media outlets and users to verify information and refer to official sources before publishing reports related to the prime minister’s positions or diplomatic activities.
