The budget for Luxembourg’s Eurovision participation is to increase to €2 million per year for the next three years. The Eurovision Luxembourg team say the additional funding is needed to meet international production standards.

Budget for Luxembourg to rise to €2million

Luxembourg’s government has increased the funding allocation for the Grand Duchy’s Eurovision participation. According to Luxemburger Wort, the funding allocation for Luxembourg’s 2025 entry was €1.6million, which they exceeded during the contest in Basel.

The Eurovision team at Luxembourg’s RTL say that the additional funding is needed to meet the “increased requirements” of producing quality entries at the Contest. The broadcaster also cites the cost of organising the national final, Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC), which they have produced for the last 3 years.

Elisabeth Conter, Head of Delegation for Luxembourg said:

In recent years, production requirements, technical implementation and expectations regarding the quality of the events have risen in particular. Added to this are higher costs for stage production, international promotion, travel, accommodation and support for the delegation. With the adjusted budget, RTL can continue to organise the LSC and Luxembourg’s participation in the ESC to a standard that meets the competition’s international standards.

Conter also explains that producing LSC, held at the Rockhal Concert Hall in Luxembourg, accounts for around 70% of the overall budget. The 4th edition of the national final is due to be held on January 30th 2027.

Luxembourg’s Eurovision journey

Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michùle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.

Luxembourg’s latest participation came in Vienna in 2026. Eva Marija represented Luxembourg with the song “Mother Nature”. She participated in the Second Semi-Final but failed to qualify for the final, earning 60 points – 34 points coming from the televote, with the remaining 26 coming from the jury.
