Estonian and Luxembourg Leaders Inspect Kyiv Damage After Russian Strikes | Ukraine news

A visit to Kyiv brought European leaders face to face with the destruction left behind by a Russian missile attack.

President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden saw the aftermath of Russian strikes on the capital during their visit to Kyiv. The Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Communications Department reported that the foreign guests were shown destroyed residential buildings and told about the work of emergency services following the attacks.

Luc Frieden visited Lukianivka together with Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksii Serheiev. This district of Kyiv was among the areas struck by Russia.

Serheiev, together with the head of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, Andrii Danyk, showed the foreign guests destroyed and burned-out buildings and spoke about the scale of the destruction and the daily work of rescuers.

Aftermath of the Missile Strike on a Residential Building in Kyiv

Accompanied by Oleksii Serheiev, Alar Karis inspected an apartment building hit by a Russian missile in July. Nineteen people were killed during the massive attack on Kyiv at the time.

Delegation members were told how Ukrainian services respond after shelling. Rescuers carry out search-and-rescue operations, extinguish fires, clear rubble, and assist residents whose homes and property have been destroyed or damaged by Russian attacks.

Cooperation Between the State Emergency Service and EU Countries

Andrii Danyk, head of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the European Union, particularly Estonia. Such support helps modernize Ukrainian rescuers’ technical equipment and improve their readiness to work in wartime conditions.

The President of Estonia expressed respect for Ukrainian rescuers and specialists who provide aid to those affected by Russian strikes. Luc Frieden and Alar Karis arrived in Ukraine on August 24 and took part in Independence Day events.
