RTL, the Luxembourgish national broadcaster, has opened the application windows for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027.
The application windows for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 have opened. This year, there are two separate application windows; one for artists and one for songs. The decision to have two separate application windows was made in order to “maximise opportunities for Luxembourg’s artistic talent”.
The rules for artist applications are as follows:
Artists must be at least 18 years old by January 15, 2027.
Artists must be Luxembourgish citizens, have lived in Luxembourg for at least three consecutive years or have a strong connection to the Luxembourgish music industry.
Artists must be able to sing live and feel comfortable on stage.
A maximum of six people can be on stage for each performance.
The deadline for the artist application window is September 20, 2026 at 23:59 CET.
The rules for song applications are as follows:
Songwriters and composers of all nationalities may enter songs.
Songs must not be longer than 3 minutes.
Songs must not have been publicly performed or released before September 1, 2026.
Songs can be in any language but songs in Luxembourgish are particularly welcome.
The deadline for the song application window is October 29, 2026 at 23:59 CET.
Following the end of the artist application window, a number of artists will be invited to in-person auditions in mid-October. An international jury of Eurovision experts will shortlist candidates for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027.
The shortlisted candidates will then be invited to a Pairing Workshop in late October/early November. A panel of music and/or Eurovision experts will review the submitted songs and select songs with strong Eurovision potential. These will be presented to the shortlisted candidates at the Pairing Workshop.
During the workshop, the candidates will receive guidance from industry experts, including coaches, musicians and Eurovision specialists, to help them select the song that best showcases their artistic identity and gives them the strongest chance of success at Eurovision. Artists may be assigned a song that they wrote themselves or a song written by someone else. At the end of the workshop, the finalists of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 will be chosen.
The Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 will be held on January 30 in Rockhal in Esch. The winner will represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria.
Eva Marija represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 2026 with “Mother Nature”. She finished 12th in Semi-Final Two, 62 points away from qualifying for the final. This is the first time that Luxembourg has failed to qualify for the final since their return to the contest in 2023.

Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest+
Luxembourg was one of seven countries to take part in the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Luxembourg participated in the contest 37 times before withdrawing from the contest after 1993. During these 37 years, they won the contest five times. The last of these victories came in 1983. Luxembourg came close to returning to the contest in 2004, but opted against it due to the financial cost of participating. They eventually returned in 2024, after an absence of 31 years.
