Speaking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bitcoin Amsterdam 2025;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bitcoin Amsterdam 2025<\/a>, Luxembourg\u2019s Finance Minister Gilles Roth stressed that the nation is keen to be among the first to adopt BTC through its Sovereign Wealth Fund.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cBitcoin will help shape the future of finance: secure, open and competitive,\u201d the minister wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Minister Roth explicitly noted that though the fund\u2019s investment policy allows for an allocation in any crypto asset, \u201cit has chosen to invest only in Bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cBecause, as Michel Saylor once said, there is no second best\u2026 and we\u2019re in it for the long haul,\u201d he noted, followed by an instant applause across the room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The minister closed his speech with a clear policy stance, emphasizing that the nation plans to hold the crypto.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cLet me be clear: Luxembourg HODLs. We are still very early. I am sure we will still soon follow our lead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Luxembourg, being one of the world\u2019s largest cross-border investment hub, manages over \u20ac7.6 trillion in funds. \u201cIn recent years, a whole range of cross-border fintech companies have set up in Luxembourg,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">These companies serve as payment gateways, tokenization platforms and regulatory platforms for clients across the globe, Roth added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">In June, crypto exchange Coinbase won a European Union Markets in Crypto Assets license (MiCA) from Luxembourg to offer crypto services across the European Union. However, the exchange\u2019s intended operations in Luxembourg would be relatively less, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/news\/coinbase-gemini-eye-eu-expansion-with-new-licenses-reuters\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:as reported earlier;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">as reported earlier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Surprisingly, Luxembourg labelled crypto firms as <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/news\/luxembourg-labels-crypto-firms-high-risk-for-money-laundering-in-2025-risk-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201chigh-risk\u201d entities;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">\u201chigh-risk\u201d entities<\/a> for money laundering in its 2025 risk report. The study highlighted how Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) often operate in decentralized environments, complicating oversight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cOver the past decade, we have built a trusty tone for Bitcoin and digital assets,\u201d Gilles Roth said. In fact, the nation regulated the very first European crypto exchange, Bitstamp, nearly a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Luxembourg supports the industry \u201cto make crypto a trusted asset class.
