She paired the piece with her V Vamp pumps from Natan Couture<\/a> (the go-to designer for many European royal women, including Queen Maxima of the Netherlands<\/a> and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians). As the consort to the world\u2019s only Grand Duchy, Stephanie has access to a vast array of heirloom jewels, which she often chooses to highlight on official state visits. Her trip to Spain this week \u2013 which came after outings to Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the Vatican \u2013 was no different. Posing alongside King Felipe and Queen Letizia, Grand Duchess Stephanie wore earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet from the House<\/a> of Nassau\u2019s Citrine and Pearl parure, which has been passed down through generations of Luxembourg\u2019s royal women for at least 50 years.<\/p>\n

The parure, which also includes a tiara, was first seen on Grand Duke Henri\u2019s sister, Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, the daughter of Grand Duke Jean and Princess Jos\u00e9phine Charlotte of Belgium. Margaretha wore the set to welcome Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to Luxembourg in 1976. Her mother, Grand Duchess Jos\u00e9phine Charlotte, wore the set to mark Queen Margrethe of Denmark\u2019s 60th birthday in 2000.<\/p>\n

The parure was then passed down to Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, who wore it to welcome the Dutch royal family to Luxembourg in 1981, posing for a series of photographs in the tiara, earrings, necklace and bracelet (she would go on to wear the set at a number of state visits in the 2010s). The set spent a decade in the royal vaults before Princess Margaretha wore it once more at the Royal Palace of Brussels<\/a> in 1999.
