Lebanon\u2019s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said diplomacy is a national responsibility aimed at restoring Lebanon\u2019s sovereignty and protecting its people, in remarks he shared on X following an address to European Union foreign ministers in Luxembourg.<\/p>\n
Salam said that choosing diplomacy \u201cis not a sign of weakness, but an expression of national responsibility\u201d to ensure that no path remains unexplored in efforts to restore sovereignty.<\/p>\n
He added that Lebanon is not seeking symbolic engagement, but is determined to seize the opportunity to work toward a lasting solution.<\/p>\n
According to Salam, the government is pursuing a diplomatic path aimed at ending what he described as occupation, securing the release of detainees, and ensuring the return of displaced residents to their homes and villages.<\/p>\n
He also stressed that the government\u2019s commitment to consolidating the state\u2019s monopoly over arms and ending regional interference in Lebanon\u2019s internal affairs \u201cshould no longer be questioned.\u201d<\/p>\n
Highlighting the scale of the challenges facing the country, Salam called for greater international solidarity, saying Lebanon needs its European partners \u201cmore than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
