The Afghan Association of Luxembourg has issued a resolution supporting the rights, freedoms, and dignity of Afghan women and girls, calling for the immediate removal of restrictions imposed on them.<\/p>\n
The resolution, adopted during a protest gathering in Luxembourg on Wednesday, June 17, states that Afghan women and girls have been deprived of fundamental human and civil rights, including access to education, employment, political participation, and freedom of movement.<\/p>\n
Participants in the gathering, including human rights activists, members of civil society organizations, women, youth, and concerned citizens, said that these restrictions violate human rights principles and human dignity and contradict the values of justice and equality.<\/p>\n
The resolution also expressed concern over what it described as increasing pressure and restrictions on women in recent weeks, citing reports of arbitrary arrests, violence, and the suppression of peaceful protests.<\/p>\n
Participants voiced particular concern over recent incidents in the Jebrail area of Herat, where reports have emerged of women being detained, beaten, and subjected to violent treatment.<\/p>\n
The resolution warned that the continuation of such conditions could deepen Afghanistan\u2019s humanitarian, social, and economic crises while undermining prospects for peace and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
The gathering also urged the European Union to make human rights, especially the rights of Afghan women, a fundamental condition for any engagement with the Taliban.<\/p>\n
