Recent drone incidents have exposed growing pressure along NATO’s borders, prompting allies to review defenses and send a firm message to Moscow.
The NATO North Atlantic Council held a meeting in response to recent violations of Polish and Romanian airspace, as well as drone-related incidents. Allies discussed their response to these events and further security measures.
In a statement, NATO emphasized its full solidarity with Poland and Romania. The Alliance placed full responsibility on Russia for the dangerous and unacceptable violations of the airspace of member states.
NATO strengthens the protection of its eastern flank
Alliance countries reaffirmed their collective and firm readiness to defend NATO territory. They also welcomed the swift actions taken by Alliance structures and national authorities in response to drone incidents and airspace violations.
NATO continues to strengthen its integrated air and missile defense system. Allies are paying particular attention to reinforcing the Alliance’s eastern flank along its entire length – from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.

Support for Ukraine remains unwavering
During the meeting, NATO members once again declared their full support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as in its pursuit of a just peace.
The Alliance stressed that Russia’s irresponsible actions will not affect the Allies’ commitment to Ukraine. NATO recalled that Ukraine’s security is an important component of the security of the entire Alliance.
