A recent report has raised concern over possible targets, while NATO points to earlier interceptions as proof its defenses can respond.
NATO has stated that it is ready to confront any threats amid reports that Iran may be preparing attacks on U.S. military facilities in Europe. The Alliance emphasized that it will continue doing everything necessary to protect all its members.
A NATO representative commented on a Financial Times report claiming that Iran had allegedly considered strikes against U.S. military facilities in Europe if U.S. President Donald Trump decided to further escalate the conflict.

What targets Iran may have considered
According to the Financial Times, Iran began considering possible strikes against U.S. facilities in Southeastern European countries as a way to raise the stakes if the United States further escalated the situation.
Bulgaria was named among the potential targets. In July, the country allowed the Bezmer Air Base to be used for refueling U.S. military aircraft.
The report also mentioned Cyprus, where a strike drone attacked a British air base in March.
NATO’s position
The Alliance emphasized that strengthening deterrence and air defense systems makes it possible to respond to missile threats. NATO assured that it is ready to defend allied territory and counter any attempts to attack U.S. or other facilities in Europe.
