{"id":12685,"date":"2026-09-01T09:19:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T09:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/12685\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T09:19:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T09:19:07","slug":"allied-air-command-nordic-air-forces-strengthen-cooperation-at-caoc-bodo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/12685\/","title":{"rendered":"Allied Air Command | Nordic Air Forces strengthen cooperation at CAOC Bod\u00f8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">RAMSTEIN, Germany\u00a0&#8211; Representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden met in Bod\u00f8, Aug. 25 to 28, to advance the Nordic Airpower Concept.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Nearly 100 participants gathered in Bod\u00f8, Norway and at NATO\u2019s newest Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC), working in specialist and cross-functional groups to share experience, discuss challenges and identify opportunities for closer cooperation.  <\/p>\n<p>With Finland and Sweden now members of NATO, the conditions for even closer Nordic defence cooperation are better than ever. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Participants spent the three days of professional discussions focused on strengthening the coherence and integration of Nordic Airpower.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The talks focused on how the five Nordic countries can develop more coherent and effective Airpower by drawing on their combined capabilities, expertise and experience. The Nordic Airpower Concept provides the framework for that cooperation, helping establish a common direction for how their national Air Forces can operate more closely together. <a href=\"https:\/\/ac.nato.int\/resources\/uploads\/2717\/5ef04a7f110722.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"is-lightbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/dsc01487---til-some-(1)-638ce1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a>Swedish Brigadier General J\u00f6rgen Axelsson briefs Nordic participants at the Combined Air Operations Centre Bod\u00f8, Norway, Aug. 25 to 28, as part staff talks on Nordic defence cooperation. Photo courtesy of the Royal Norwegian Air Force.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u201cNordic Air Forces staff talks are an important forum for professional military dialogue between the Nordic countries,\u201d said Norwegian Major General Tron Strand, commander of CAOC Bod\u00f8. \u201cWith Finland and Sweden now members of NATO, the conditions for even closer Nordic defence cooperation are better than ever.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u201cAs the Nordic countries develop their ability to operate more closely together, this not only strengthens Nordic defence capabilities \u2013 it also contributes to strengthening NATO as an alliance,\u201d the general added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The event also strengthened professional relationships among the Nordic Airpower communities, supporting greater cooperation and shared understanding.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe three days helped strengthen both professional cooperation and the network between the Nordic air power communities \u2013 and contributed to taking the Nordic Air Power Concept one step further,\u201d said Swedish Brigadier General J\u00f6rgen Axelsson, deputy commander of CAOC Bod\u00f8. <\/p>\n<p>Closer Nordic Airpower integration strengthens cohesion among the five NATO Allies, supporting readiness and the Alliance\u2019s ability to operate cohesively.
