U.S. President Donald Trump said Russian dictator Vladimir
\nPutin does not intend to attack the territory of European NATO<\/a>
\nmembers.<\/p>\n

Trump made the remarks during a briefing in the Oval Office on
\nSept. 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cI speak to him. I know him very well. Putin\u2019s not looking
\nto attack NATO territory,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

He also repeated his claim that Ukrainian President
\nVolodymyr Zelenskyy and the Kremlin leader have a \u201chate each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a personality problem. Zelenskyy and Putin \u2014 they
\nreally hate each other. Do you know what hatred is? They have serious hatred.
\nThis hatred is getting in their way,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

In August, The Wall Street Journal reported that
\nPutin could try to test NATO\u2019s readiness for collective defense by attacking
\none of the alliance\u2019s members sometime between this fall and 2029.<\/p>\n

According to U.S. officials familiar with the intelligence,
\nvarious scenarios are being considered, ranging from cyberattacks and hybrid
\noperations to a limited invasion of a country on NATO\u2019s eastern flank.<\/p>\n
