He singled out the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain for criticism.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were disappointed with most of them,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want loyalty. You know, we\u2019re so loyal to them. We are always fighting for them,\u201d Trump argued, noting that the US has troops stationed in several European countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Germany, we have 50,000 troops. And then you want a little \u2013 give us a little nudge, give us a little kiss. We don\u2019t want much. And they say, \u2018No, we can\u2019t do it,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump labeled Spain \u201cterrible\u201d for what he described as wanting \u201ca free ride\u201d and not spending enough on defense.<\/p>\n<p>Rutte sought to downplay the disagreements without directly challenging Trump. \u201cI do agree there is a reason for disappointment, absolutely. But my argument is this: These are isolated cases,\u201d he said. He argued that, despite voicing opposition to the war with Iran, countries such as Germany and Romania had fulfilled all their \u201cbilateral commitments\u201d to the US.<\/p>\n<p>US aircraft flew between 4,000 and 5,000 missions from bases in Europe during the first six weeks of the conflict, Rutte said. He later displayed a chart showing that European investment in the US supports 83,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>In March, Spain refused to allow the US to use its bases for strikes on Iran, prompting outrage at the White House. Trump said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez, and other critics of the Iran war should focus on \u201cfixing\u201d their own countries.
