{"id":4849,"date":"2026-07-01T14:24:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T14:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/4849\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T14:24:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T14:24:08","slug":"germany-weighs-patriot-missile-deal-before-nato-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/4849\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany weighs Patriot missile deal before NATO summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"447\" alt=\"Germany weighs Patriot missile deal before NATO summit\" title=\"Germany weighs Patriot missile deal before NATO summit\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1782915116.webp\" data-rjs=\"2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Photo by Handout \/ AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE \/ AFP<\/p>\n<p> Germany is reportedly negotiating with the United States to reach an agreement on producing PAC-3 Patriot missiles domestically ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara. <\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Financial Times\u00a0(FT), citing \u201cpeople familiar with the matter,\u201d said the talks form part of a wider push from Berlin to stabilize ties with US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>One person described the deal as focused on \u201cjoint production concepts,\u201d while another source said it covers \u201canything\u201d that could bolster bilateral defense, including PAC-3 Patriot and Tomahawk cruise missiles, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">News.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/post\/79369\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kyiv Post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A third source told the FT that the US\u2019s response has been more positive than initially expected.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Berlin hopes to cash in on Washington\u2019s\u00a0warming attitude towards Ukraine\u00a0and Europe in recent weeks, with the goal of advancing defense deals during the Ankara NATO summit slated for July 7-8.<\/p>\n<p>Demand for<a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/news\/germany-to-deploy-patriot-air-defence-system-to-southeastern-turkiye-for-six-months\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Patriot missiles<\/a> has surged since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with Kyiv having\u00a0proven the missiles\u2019 effectiveness\u00a0at countering Russian ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n<p>Demand increased further following the recent US military campaign against Iran, which\u00a0depleted much of its stockpile.
