{"id":5506,"date":"2026-07-03T20:24:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T20:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/5506\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T20:24:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T20:24:12","slug":"europe-has-replaced-most-us-cuts-within-nato-top-commander-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/5506\/","title":{"rendered":"Europe has replaced most US cuts within Nato, top commander says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">European Nato allies have mostly replaced the assets that the US has cut from its rescue plans in case of a war in Europe, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe John Stringer said in an interview.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Stringer made the assurance ahead of the alliance\u2019s summit in Ankara next week, at which allies will try to smooth over recent announcements by the US signalling that it is pivoting away from the continent.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cEuropean allies have definitely stepped up in terms of backfilling the adjustment in the US forces in Europe,\u201d said Stringer, adding this was a demonstration of \u201ca stronger Europe in a stronger Nato\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The US recently announced massive cuts to the forces it would send to Europe in case of war or crisis, prompting the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation\u2019s military command to ask European countries to make the forces they had not yet committed to the alliance known.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Stringer, a former Royal Air Force fighter pilot, said that in the categories in which Europe could not provide equivalent forces, they would be looking to match the effect with different assets.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Nato\u2019s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe John Stringer speaks at a military conference in London in June.
