{"id":61,"date":"2026-06-01T19:46:32","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T19:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/61\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T19:46:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T19:46:32","slug":"nato-selects-jet-connectivity-for-diana-innovation-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/61\/","title":{"rendered":"Nato selects JET Connectivity for DIANA innovation programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/nato-diana-image-850.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-897316 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/nato\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/nato-diana-image-850.webp\" alt=\"Nato selects JET Connectivity for DIANA innovation programme\" width=\"850\" height=\"539\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This <a rel=\"image nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diana.nato.int\/about-diana.html\" target=\"_blank\">initiative<\/a> aims, in the words of the military alliance, to \u201cpromote the adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>JET Connectivity was one of just five companies selected globally and the only UK based firm to have been chosen. Apparently there were 3,600 applicants to the first phase of the accelerator programme, made in January this year. This was narrowed down to a cohort of 150.<\/p>\n<p>The chosen companies will receive up to \u20ac300,000 in additional contractual funding and a further commitment of support from the programme and its delivery partners. Additional testing and validation budgets and other opportunities will also be available, adds Nato.<\/p>\n<p>Finland<\/p>\n<p>This stage of the accelerator programme is described by the defence organisation as an important milestone for innovators. Specifically, for them to move their technologies towards operational use across the alliance.<\/p>\n<p>Jet Connectivity paid tribute to the facilities available at the <a rel=\"image nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vttresearch.com\/en\/vtt-launchpad\/nato-diana-accelerator\" target=\"_blank\">VTT Dual-Use LaunchPad<\/a>, which is part of the DIANA support network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisiting Finland to engage with the 5G\/6G test centre and working with mentors across Nato and the FDF has propelled our roadmap development and use case validation,\u201d said JET\u2019s CCO, <a rel=\"image nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diana.nato.int\/connect\/nato-diana-announces-five-innovators-selected-for-mission-track-2.html\" target=\"_blank\">Nicolas Calvelo Santos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur advanced communications platform is now seen as a pivotal ingredient to add to NATO\u2019s partners capabilities \u2013 we\u2019d encourage other ambitious companies to explore the challenges and see if they could have something to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Innovators<\/p>\n<p>The five companies chosen \u2013 the \u201cMission Track innovators\u201d \u2013 are (alphabetically):<\/p>\n<p>Fieldmade (Norway) \u2013 Deployable additive manufacturing micro-factories.<br \/>\nJET Connectivity (UK) \u2013 Sovereign, AI-driven 5G mesh solution for contested, denied, or compromised environments.<br \/>\nMesodyne (US) \u2013 Silent, reliable portable power generation from any fuel.<br \/>\nSkyFi (US) \u2013 Earth intelligence platform to enable mobility decision support in contested and crisis conditions.<br \/>\nSpacedrip (Estonia) \u2013 Autonomous deployable closed-loop water-reuse systems for remote and extreme sites.<\/p>\n<p>Capability<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nato DIANA Mission Track is where innovation moves from promise to capability, helping innovators go the extra mile towards adoption,\u201d said the programme\u2019s manager, Jyoti Hirani-Driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe five companies selected for Mission Track have demonstrated outstanding potential with their groundbreaking defence tech and reaching this stage is a significant achievement. We are excited to see what they do next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJET Connectivity has surged forward in capability thanks, in no small part, to the support from the VTT Dual-Use Launchpad in Finland and the funding, mentoring and networking provided through Nato\u2019s DIANA programme,\u201d said company founder and CEO, James Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead<\/p>\n<p>Note that up to 10 additional companies will be selected for Mission Track in August.<\/p>\n<p>Mission Track will then consist of an adoption-focused 5-7 month programme. As mentioned, the intention is to help innovators move towards operational readiness.<\/p>\n<p>JET will demonstrate its technology at the forthcoming DIANA demo days. These are taking place in the UK on 11 June, and at Eurosatory in Paris on 15-16 June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is fantastic recognition of British innovation at its best,\u201d said the UK\u2019s Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, Luke Pollard MP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is exactly the kind of cutting-edge capability that Nato needs and I\u2019m proud to see a British company leading the way.
