Overall support for the transatlantic bond also remains high, with 72 percent describing it as important, the survey showed.<\/p>\n<p>The poll surveyed over 31,000 respondents between March and April. NATO conducts two polls a year, and it last released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/en\/what-we-do\/wider-activities\/nato-public-opinion-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">an abridged version<\/a> of the survey in 2024, before Trump took office.<\/p>\n<p>A NATO official speaking on behalf of the organization told POLITICO that the alliance does \u201cnot comment on documents [or] data for internal use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NATO rivals rise<\/p>\n<p>As well as a shift in opinion on NATO by the U.S. public, the poll also found more favorable views of Russia and China among alliance respondents.<\/p>\n<p>The survey found that 17 percent of people across NATO now hold favorable views of Russia, compared with 12 percent last year. Meanwhile, 56 percent see Russia unfavorably, compared with 62 percent in 2025.
