Ford’s new Transit City electric van debuts in Netherlands. With up to 8.5 m³ cargo, 254 km range, and price from €29,900, it’s an affordable EV.
Ford has added a new electric van to its European Transit range: the Transit City. It’s launching in the Netherlands and is effectively a rebadged version of the Chinese JMC E-Fushun. That’s no surprise, given the joint venture between Ford and JMC in China that builds commercial vehicles.
Three body styles will be available: the short-and-low L1H1, the longer and taller L2H2, and an L2 chassis cab. The largest variant offers 8.5 cubic meters of cargo space and a maximum payload of 1,235 kg.
All versions of the Ford Transit City use the same drivetrain: a 150-hp electric motor paired with a 56-kWh LFP battery. Claimed range is up to 254 km, and fast charging is supported at up to 87 kW. Equipment is also consistent, including a 12.3-inch infotainment system, air conditioning, a heated driver’s seat, a rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and front and rear parking sensors.
The big selling point is price. The chassis cab starts at €29,900, the L1H1 van at €30,900, and the L2H2 at €33,100. For context, the E-Transit Custom begins at €44,390 in the Netherlands. But that larger model justifies its cost with a claimed 370-km range and 125-kW fast charging.
