In a substantial recall move, Stellantis is calling back more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks globally due to potential fire hazards. The issue stems from an electrical connection problem within the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring, which could potentially lead to vehicle fires. Owners are advised to park their vehicles away from structures until repairs are made.
The recall affects Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Jeep Gladiator trucks from the 2021 to 2025 model years. Following reports of 72 potential fire cases linked to this defect, Stellantis has taken this precautionary measure. With a scope that includes over a million vehicles in the U.S., as well as units in Canada, Mexico, and other international markets, the company aims to address this problem swiftly.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation in 2024, which Stellantis has since expanded after noticing an increase in incident reports. The company is now focusing on inspecting and repairing or replacing the affected components, promising a solution by July. Stellantis remains committed to ensuring the safety and reliability of its vehicles.
