Wayve, Uber and Stellantis have announced a new partnership to deploy and scale Level 4 autonomous robotaxi services globally.
Unveiled at MOVE 2026 which Zag attends in London, the agreement brings together Wayve’s AI driving software, Stellantis’ vehicle platforms and Uber’s ride-hailing network.
As a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding, it does not set a fixed timeline or financial terms but establishes a framework for further talks on technology development, licensing, production and vehicle procurement.
Under the partnership, Stellantis will provide vehicles built on its L4-Ready Platforms, Wayve will supply its AI Driver technology and Uber will deploy the vehicles through its global mobility platform. The companies said they will now work on vehicle integration, testing, validation and deployment with the goal of launching autonomous services across Europe, North America and other markets.
Speaking on stage, Wayve Co-Founder and CEO Alex Kendall said the collaboration reflects the company’s long-term vision of building autonomous driving software that can operate across different vehicles and environments.
“I looked at London and said ‘how do we build a system that can deal with the complexity of this city?’ Now it feels like the industry is rallying around this approach, designed from the ground up for scale.”
The announcement builds on Wayve and Uber’s existing plans to launch autonomous ride-hailing services in London where the companies recently opened a public waitlist for robotaxi rides.
Kendall said the partnership with Stellantis would help Wayve accelerate deployment by combining AI development with large-scale vehicle manufacturing. He argued that advances in AI models, simulation tools and validation systems have helped address many of the industry’s earlier concerns around autonomous driving.
Kendall described regulation as “a really hard and challenging, important problem” but said it was “no longer a critical path to bringing autonomy at scale”.
Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic said that regulators increasingly recognise the potential safety benefits of autonomous systems compared with human drivers. He said the maturity of autonomous driving technology had increased “exponentially” in recent years and that authorities are now focused on how to accelerate the deployment of safer transport technologies.
