A large Dutch funding pledge will enable shared drone production with Ukraine, creating closer industrial ties and faster battlefield support. Officials say the program will strengthen air defenses and sustain high interception rates while expanding domestic military manufacturing.

During a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense, the Netherlands’ Minister of Defense Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced that the Netherlands would invest 248 million euros in drones for Ukraine.

According to her, the drones are planned to be produced jointly in both states, which will strengthen the joint defense industry and establish closer cooperation between the countries.

“The Netherlands is investing 248 million euros in drones for Ukraine. These drones will be produced in both of our countries. In this way we further strengthen our cooperation and our own industry. And most importantly, these drones help repel Russian attacks!”

During the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov noted that Ukraine has strengthened its air defense: the interception rate of cruise missiles has reached about 80%, and drone interceptions have risen to 90%.

Such steps underscore the mutual commitments of both sides to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and to develop a joint defense industry.
