REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/IllustrationNXP Semiconductors forecast quarterly revenue above estimates on Tuesday, signaling robust demand for its chips used in the automotive, industrial and data center markets.

NXP’s ‌gains in areas such as software-defined vehicles, radar and electrification have helped the automotive unit counter sluggish global vehicle production.

It expects third-quarter revenue of between $3.65 billion and $3.85 billion, the midpoint of which is above analysts’ average estimate ‌of $3.69 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

Adjusted profit is expected to be between $3.89 and $4.32 per share, compared with estimates of $3.98.

Growth has also been bolstered by its expanding data center business, as it ramps up offerings for AI-related infrastructure.

“Underlying these results, AI is moving ‌from the cloud into the physical world – into vehicles, factories, and robots – and it lands directly in the markets where NXP has leadership positions,” CEO Rafael Sotomayor said.

Second-quarter revenue rose 19% to $3.50 billion, compared with estimates of $3.46 billion. Adjusted profit came in at $3.61 per share, beating estimates of $3.50.
