Stocks climbed broadly on Thursday after severe losses the previous day.

Nasdaq-100 E-mini futures recently staged a sharp rally to around the 28,500 level, boosted by strong mega-cap earnings and resilient AI infrastructure spending.

Microsoft

The recent upside has been driven by heavyweight tech earnings, notably Microsoft’s cloud growth and strong demand among semiconductor and AI supply chain leaders (e.g., AMD, ASML, Applied Materials). Bullish momentum has resumed after a period of consolidation, though market concentration in major tech names keeps volatility elevated around earnings.

High double-digit cloud revenue growth across key hyperscalers continues to reassure markets that corporate investments in AI infrastructure are yielding real top-line returns. Chipmakers and equipment manufacturers remain structural leaders, maintaining pricing power and strong order backlogs.

Performance is uneven—while core AI, cloud, and semiconductor names are surging, broader software services and enterprise IT spending outside of AI are experiencing slower, more localized recovery cycles. Fed rate expectations and bond yield movements continue to dictate multiples. Lower long-term yields tend to act as an immediate tailwind for long-duration tech assets.

The Nasdaq-100’s concentration in cash-rich, low-leverage megacaps offers structural downside protection compared to broader small-cap indices during macro uncertainty. Sustained earnings beats across the top 10 constituents, combined with a stable rate environment, could push futures toward major resistance near key psychological highs.

Extended price-to-earnings (P/E) multiples leave the index vulnerable to sharp pullbacks if growth misses expectations. Trade tensions, potential semiconductor export restrictions, or broader macroeconomic slowdowns pose supply-chain risks.

The top constituents drive a disproportionate share of total returns, meaning single-stock pullbacks in megacaps can drag down the entire index even if the median stock holds up.
