ASML Holding (NASDAQ:ASML), the company with a near-stranglehold on the machines needed to manufacture cutting-edge chips, jumped approximately 4.1% in Tuesday’s U.S. session as investors got another reminder that the AI chip boom is still running hot. TSMC’s (NYSE:TSM) July revenue exploded 44.7% year over year to NT$467.58 billion and climbed 5.6% from June. That is exactly the kind of number ASML investors want to see. TSMC cannot keep pumping out more advanced AI chips forever without adding capacity, and adding leading-edge capacity means more demand for the lithography systems that only ASML can supply at the technological frontier.
ASML is already gearing up for that demand. Second-quarter sales hit 9.33 billion while net income reached 2.92 billion, and management expects third-quarter revenue of 11 billion to 12 billion. The company has also lifted its 2026 sales outlook to 43 billion45 billion, with annual gross margin expected at 54%56%. Take the 11.5 billion midpoint of third-quarter guidance and ASML is staring at roughly 23% sequential revenue growth. That is not a gentle semiconductor recovery. ASML is positioning for another leg of the AI infrastructure buildout, and TSMC’s latest numbers suggest its biggest customers may have plenty of reasons to keep spending.

But here is the catch: investors are already paying for a lot of that future. GuruFocus puts ASML at roughly $1,802.85 versus GF Value near $1,190, leaving the shares about 51% above that valuation benchmark. The business may be firing, but the stock is no bargain. At this price, booming AI demand is no longer enough; ASML needs booming demand plus execution. Orders need to convert. EUV capacity needs to ramp. Margins need to hold. TSMC’s 44.7% July surge keeps the bull case alive, but a 51% premium to GF Value raises the bar dramatically. ASML now has to grow into a valuation that is already betting heavily on the AI boom lasting.
