It’s back to school season, and even royals are getting back into the swing of things. Today, the royal house of the Netherlands shared that Princess Ariane, the youngest of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s three daughters, has officially started college. In a post including several photos of the young princess at school, the royal house wrote (translated from Dutch), “Princess Ariane begins her studies in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).” They added, “The Princess’s study time is considered private.”
For her back to school style, Ariane blended a crisp look with a bit of whimsy, pairing a fitted white button down with colorful striped linen pants. She completed the look with an oversized chocolate suede bag, and a pair of Adidas Handball Spezial sneakers in a particularly apt shade: “Collegiate Navy.”
The youngest of the Dutch princesses, Ariane is following in the academic steps of her sisters, all of whom are currently in the midst of their studies. Her older sister and heir to the throne, Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia, is currently studying law at the University of Amsterdam while also receiving military training—a royal tradition. Meanwhile, middle sister Princess Alexia is studying civil engineering at University College London in the UK, following her high school years at the famous royal-loved school UWC Atlantic in Wales (Spanish princesses Leonor and Sofía were also students there.)
While aerospace might not be the most obvious choice of majors for a royal, Ariane shares the interest with her father, King Willem-Alexander, who is a trained pilot, and her late uncle, Prince Friso, who also studied aerospace engineering at Delft.
