You don’t need to fly to the Netherlands for tulips because Yorkshire has its own spectacular displays this spring.

From a million-bulb field in Pontefract to Chelsea award-winning Bloms Bulbs, Yorkshire is putting on a show this spring that rivals anything Amsterdam has to offer.

As temperatures rise and the season reaches its peak, a string of tulip festivals and pick-your-own farms across the county are drawing visitors eager to swap the airport queue for a day out on their doorstep.

Here are some of the best places to see tulips across Yorkshire this spring.

Farmer Copley’s Tulip Festival, Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Over one million tulip bulbs across more than 100 varieties are on display at Farmer Copley’s, along with a real working windmill, pick-your-own areas, Dutch-style food and a bar. The festival won Rural and Farm Event of the Year 2025.

When: From Saturday, April 4 (approximately four weeks)

Price: Midweek £8 + booking fee. Weekends: £11 + booking fee. Under-3s free.

Burnby Hall Gardens Tulip Festival, Pocklington, East Yorkshire

Over 18,000 tulips in 130 varieties are formally displayed in tubs and flower beds across the historic gardens, planned by Head Gardener Jill Ward.

When: Saturday, April 18 to Saturday, May 9. Open daily 10am to 5.30pm.

Spilman’s Tulip Festival, Sessay, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire

Over 250,000 tulips across three acres in 50 different varieties, with 12 photo spots, food vans and live music at weekends.

When: From 10am to 5.30pm. Check the farm’s social media for exact opening dates.

Price: From £7 – under-2s free. Weekends are expected to sell out; advance booking recommended.

Constable Burton Tulip Festival, Leyburn, North Yorkshire

The northern show garden for Chelsea award-winning Bloms Bulbs, with over 6,000 tulips across formal and woodland gardens, expert advice on hand, plus homemade light lunches, cakes and cream teas.

When: Saturday, May 2 to Monday, May 4 (early May bank holiday weekend).

Price: Adults from £10, children £5, family £28.
