AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A person riding an electric bicycle has died after a crash involving a car on Tuesday night. The crash took place at the intersection of Guy Park Avenue and Wall Street in Amsterdam around 8:40 p.m.

The Amsterdam Police Department has identified the e-bike rider as Jose L. Lozada, 60, of Amsterdam. Lozada was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he died due to his injuries.
Police said the driver of the car, who is under 18 years old, initially left the scene, but returned minutes after the crash. The driver has been fully cooperative with the investigation. Police said there were no signs of impairment by alcohol or drugs.

The e-bike and car have been secured as evidence, said police. The roadway has since reopened and the investigation continues. Police said no tickets or charges have been filed.
