COURTHOUSE,
\n May 8\u2013 For an armed robbery of
\n a bodega owner in his
\n apartment at Amsterdam and
\n West 91st Street, one
\n defendant was retained and one
\n released on bond in the U.S.
\n District Court for the
\n Southern District of New York.
\n <\/p>\n

\u00a0 On March 7
\n both appeared before SDNY
\n Judge Lewis J. Liman. Inner
\n City Press was there, the only
\n media in the
\n courtroom.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\u00a0Judge Liman
\n gave two more weeks to provide
\n discovery, and set a next
\n conference for June 3 (a
\n defense lawyer said he’d be on
\n a family ski trip to Steamboat
\n Springs, Colorado on the first
\n proposed date, May 28). <\/p>\n

Judge Liman said
\n he would set a trial date at
\n that time.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

On July 14 Judge
\n Liman set a trial date for
\n co-defendant Mangual: February
\n 9, 2026, after the lead
\n defendant pled guilty on May
\n 1.<\/p>\n

Epps got five
\n years on August 20. In October
\n 17, Mangual pled guilty, with
\n sentencing set for January 27
\n at 11 am.<\/p>\n

On December 23
\n Inner City Press was in the
\n Magistrates Court when a third
\n defendant in the case was
\n brought in, Jose Rivera. His
\n CJA lawyer consented to
\n detention, on his last day in
\n the CJA Pool. A control date
\n of January 22 was set.<\/p>\n

On January 15 he
\n white shoe CJA at Wachtell
\n Lipton wrote in asking for
\n release on bail, ascribing
\n prior criminal charges to,
\n inter alia, being hacked.<\/p>\n

On January 19 –
\n MLK Day – the US Attorney’s
\n Office wrote in opposing bail,
\n saying he used his time on the
\n run to commit another armed
\n robbery.<\/p>\n

Jump cut to May
\n 8, when Wachtell wrote in
\n saying it will not file
\n pre-trial motions because “the
\n parties currently anticipate a
\n pretrial disposition of this
\n matter.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0The overall
\n case is USA v. Epps, et al.,
\n 1:25-cr-83 (Liman)<\/p>\n
