{"id":14324,"date":"2026-05-20T13:18:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T13:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/14324\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T13:18:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T13:18:52","slug":"tata-electronics-and-asml-partner-on-indias-first-semiconductor-fab-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/14324\/","title":{"rendered":"Tata Electronics and ASML partner on India&#8217;s first semiconductor fab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">May 16 (Reuters) &#8211; Tata Electronics and ASML on Saturday signed an agreement to build India&#8217;s first front-end semiconductor \u200cfabrication plant in the state of Gujarat, as the \u200ccountry accelerates efforts to develop a domestic chip industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Dutch chipmaking equipment maker&#8217;s \u200btechnology will support Tata Electronics\u2019 planned 300-millimetre semiconductor fabrication plant in Gujarat, the companies said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;India&#8217;s rapidly expanding semiconductor sector represents many compelling opportunities, and we are committed \u200cto establishing long-term partnerships \u2060in the region,&#8221; ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tata Electronics is developing the plant in Dholera, Gujarat, with \u2060an investment of $11 billion, aimed at producing chips for applications ranging from automotive and mobile devices to AI, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The \u200bdeal was \u200bsigned in the presence of \u200bIndian Prime Minister Narendra \u200cModi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, India&#8217;s Ministry of External Affairs said, adding the two leaders also met chief executives from leading Dutch companies across sectors including energy, ports and technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Modi urged Dutch companies to invest in areas such as \u200csemiconductors, renewable energy, digital technologies and healthcare, \u200bwhile both leaders called for early \u200bimplementation of an India-European \u200bUnion free trade agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">India has pledged billions of \u200cdollars in subsidies to attract \u200bsemiconductor fabrication plants \u200band related manufacturing, with eight projects underway including a $14 billion Tata Electronics facility in Gujarat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meanwhile, Dutch semiconductor firms are \u200bseeking new markets \u200cand geographical diversification amid export controls and trade restrictions \u200blinked to U.S.-China technology rivalry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">(Reporting by Disha Mishra in \u200bBengaluru.
