Such flights mark the third phase of a four-stage certification process.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3339945\/chinas-c919-airliner-put-through-paces-test-pilots-european-aviation-regulator?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The first flight tests were conducted in November<\/a>, a milestone in Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China\u2019s (Comac) multi-year effort to acquire Western endorsement for the Chinese jet, with a view to capturing overseas market share from the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 duopoly.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The source said the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had been rallying support from airlines, including their top pilots, to aid the certification push.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">A second source with knowledge of ongoing arrangements said Comac and Chinese airlines operating the C919 were providing past and real-time data to EASA. China Eastern Airlines had also shared repair and maintenance data, they said, including those accumulated from periodical A and B checks on the first batch of C919s that joined its fleet in 2023.
