prediction, team news, lineups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Both bound for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/world-cup-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">World Cup 2026<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/netherlands\/\" title=\"Netherlands\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netherlands<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/algeria\/\" title=\"Algeria\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Algeria<\/a> will convene for a pre-tournament friendly on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Just before heading off to North America, the pair are set to clash at De Kuip, where Oranje have an excellent record.<\/p>\n<p>Match preview<\/p>\n<p>Continuing to fall short of football&#8217;s top prizes, the Netherlands reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024, while they exited at the quarter-final stage of both the 2022 World Cup and 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.<\/p>\n<p>Still, they will soon get another crack at securing an elusive global title, with their latest World Cup campaign kicking off against Japan later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden and Tunisia also await in a potentially tricky Group F, so <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/people\/ronald-koeman\/\" title=\"Ronald Koeman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ronald Koeman<\/a>&#8216;s men must be ready to produce their best from the outset.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Warm-up games against fellow finalists Algeria and Uzbekistan will offer fringe players their last chance to break into the starting XI, while Koeman will be keen to extend a 10-game unbeaten streak.<\/p>\n<p>Having won six and drawn two of their qualifiers to finish above Poland, the Netherlands then played a pair of friendlies in March, beating Norway 2-1 before\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/international-friendlies\/netherlands-vs-ecuador_game_244581.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">holding Ecuador to a 1-1 draw<\/a> despite Denzel Dumfries receiving an early red card.<\/p>\n<p>Notoriously tough to defeat at De Kuip, Oranje now return to their favourite venue, aiming to maintain the momentum that might make them dark horses this summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-img-id=\"151594\" class=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/https:\/\/sportsmole-media-prod.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net\/uploads\/2025\/09\/imago1062912350-1-68b6bf46d76e.webp\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 Imago<\/p>\n<p>Set for a first World Cup appearance since 2014 &#8211;
