Not only will the Italian brand launch a new hatchback, but it will also introduce a new C-segment SUV that will sit alongside the Tonale and Junior in Alfa’s bite-sized lineup.

Alfa Romeo has already teased the model, showing off the crossover disguised underneath a sheet alongside a new specialty model developed in collaboration with Maserati. The automaker has already confirmed a few details, like the platform, which offers hints about what buyers should expect.

The new crossover will likely feature several powertrain types, including pure combustion and hybrid, and come with the latest technologies and amenities. It remains unclear if Alfa has plans to add the crossover to its US lineup, but it would be one of the brand’s first new models since the Tonale.

Until the SUV’s official debut, we will have to guess a few details about the model. This is everything we know about Alfa’s upcoming crossover.

What Will Alfa Romeo Call It?

Internally, Alfa Romeo has codenamed the new model the A4U. It has not provided any hints as to what it plans to officially call the crossover, but if Alfa’s past models are any indication, we expect the automaker to name it after a mountain pass, like the Stelvio and Tonale.

Other Italian passes include the Giau, the Sella, and the Pordoi, all of which would be decent names. Alfa could also pick something completely different, but either way, we expect it will sound distinctly Italian.

What Platform Will It Ride On?

The new Alfa Romeo will ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform. It currently underpins vehicles such as the Peugeot 3008, the Jeep Compass, the Citroën C5 Aircross, and other similarly sized crossovers across the automaker’s various brands, none of which are sold in the United States.

It’s unclear whether the platform can accommodate the advanced technologies the company’s new SLTA One architecture will offer, but it should still feature the amenities customers expect from a luxury vehicle. The Peugeot 5008 GT Premium rides on the SLTA M architecture and comes with Nappa leather seats, high-end audio, and advanced safety features.

What Will It Look Like?

Our rendering depicts Alfa’s future crossover with curvaceous sheet metal, slim headlights, hidden rear door handles, and the brand’s iconic Scudetto grille. We don’t expect the new model to represent a drastic departure from the brand’s current styling ethos, so it should feature hints of the Tonale and Stelvio.

Inside, the crossover will likely continue to feature the “Cannocchiale” gauge cluster, which the automaker will pair with a vertical infotainment screen positioned in the instrument panel. The Tonale, Alfa’s latest car, features a horizontal screen protruding from the dashboard.

What Will Power It?

Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform can accommodate electrified powertrains: hybrid, plug-in, and fully electric. The automaker has several configurations it could fit into the new Alfa, with the crossover potentially making well over 300 horsepower in some trims.

We expect Alfa to offer all-wheel drive as an option, improving performance and broadening its appeal. It’s unclear if the Italian automaker will launch a high-performance Quadrifoglio variant, but it wouldn’t feel like an Alfa without one.

When Will It Debut?

Alfa’s new crossover is expected to debut before the end of the year, and we should begin to see the automaker tease the vehicle very soon. The new crossover will likely go on sale in Europe sometime in 2027. Alfa has not confirmed if it will sell the new model in the United States.

How Much Will It Cost?

Alfa’s new crossover will likely sit between the Tonale and the Stelvio, but there is not a huge gap between the two, and it is unclear if the automaker will even sell it here. The 2026 Tonale starts at $40,745, including the $3,250 destination charge, while the 2026 Stelvio starts at $53,245.

A third crossover in the $40,000 range feels like one too many.

 We want your opinion!

What would you like to see on Motor1.com?

Take our 3 minute survey.

– The Motor1.com Team

When Stellantis unveiled its new roadmap for all its brands, Alfa Romeo was included.
