For National Siblings Day, see rescue dog siblings reunite<\/p>\n

After a week apart, two rescue dog siblings are overjoyed to be reunited at a foster home in Point Breeze, Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia<\/a> got a visit from European royalty Monday, as the king and queen of Netherlands met with Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro to discuss economic ties between state and country.<\/p>\n

“Pennsylvania and the Netherlands have stood together for centuries, dating back to when William Penn first founded our Commonwealth,” Shapiro said in a statement on X Monday.<\/p>\n

In a streamed press conference including the Dutch royalty, Shapiro said, “We just concluded a very enjoyable and productive bilateral meeting behind us at Independence Hall alongside the National Park Service”<\/p>\n

King and Queen of the Netherlands visit Philadelphia<\/p>\n

The Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander and Queen M\u00e1xima, as well as Dutch government members, met with Shapiro Monday morning to discuss economic ties between the state and country.<\/p>\n

Shapiro highlighted the “incredibly deep historical and cultural ties” shared between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The governor said conversations would continue that day to discuss how the two can increase trade.<\/p>\n

“We already have a wonderful and robust trading arrangement that represents billions of dollars in commercial activity between the Commonwealth and the Kingdom, including our world-famous Hershey Chocolates that we send to the Netherlands” Shapiro said.<\/p>\n

“We may be separated by an ocean, but we are bound by our shared history and promise of our future,” he continued.<\/p>\n

The King and Queen thanked Shapiro for Pennsylvania’s hospitality, acknowledging the significance of the visit during preparations for America’s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n

“It’s important that we continue to cherish the centuries-old bond between our nations, because it was the essence of what [has] always united us. It is the origin of our democracy and the rule of law,” the King said.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the visit, the royalty said, was to “reaffirm and strengthen our ties with you.”<\/p>\n

King Willem-Alexander also expressed excitement to visit Fishtown as well as the Eagles’ stadium ahead of the FIFA World Cup <\/a>this summer, in which the Netherlands will be represented.<\/p>\n
