Josh Shapiro to discuss economic ties between state and country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Pennsylvania and the Netherlands have stood together for centuries, dating back to when William Penn first founded our Commonwealth,&#8221; Shapiro said in a statement on X Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In a streamed press conference including the Dutch royalty, Shapiro said, &#8220;We just concluded a very enjoyable and productive bilateral meeting behind us at Independence Hall alongside the National Park Service&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>King and Queen of the Netherlands visit Philadelphia<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217; King Willem-Alexander and Queen M\u00e1xima, as well as Dutch government members, met with Shapiro Monday morning to discuss economic ties between the state and country.<\/p>\n<p>Shapiro highlighted the &#8220;incredibly deep historical and cultural ties&#8221; shared between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said conversations would continue that day to discuss how the two can increase trade.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We already have a wonderful and robust trading arrangement that represents billions of dollars in commercial activity between the Commonwealth and the Kingdom, including our world-famous Hershey Chocolates that we send to the Netherlands&#8221; Shapiro said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We may be separated by an ocean, but we are bound by our shared history and promise of our future,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The King and Queen thanked Shapiro for Pennsylvania&#8217;s hospitality, acknowledging the significance of the visit during preparations for America&#8217;s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important that we continue to cherish the centuries-old bond between our nations, because it was the essence of what [has] always united us.
