Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he\u2019s desperately seeking a legal loophole to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> for alleged war crimes when he visits in NYC in September.<\/p>\n

The Pro-Palestine, Israel-hating, socialist pol said in an interview published Saturday that it\u2019s unclear whether he has the authority to order the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu during the prime minister\u2019s expected trip to the Big Apple for the UN General Assembly \u2013 but is in an \u201cactive conversation\u201d with the city\u2019s Law Department about the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in\u00a0The\u00a0Hague,\u201d Mamdani bluntly told<\/a>\u00a0The New York Times<\/a>,\u00a0referring to the United Nations\u2019 International Court of Justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court.\u00a0And what you will find is that it is an opinion that is held by many purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani \u2013 who has made accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza a focal point of a far-left ideology that has helped propel him into the national spotlight\u00a0 \u2013 vowed during last year\u2019s campaign that, if elected mayor, he\u2019d have Netanyahu arrested if he ever set foot in NYC.<\/p>\n

He cited\u00a0the International Criminal Court\u2019s 2024 arrest warrant for\u00a0Netanyahu\u00a0\u2014 which the U.S. doesn\u2019t recognize.<\/p>\n

However, Mamdani insisted during The Times interview that the city \u201cwon\u2019t be writing our own laws\u201d to lock up the prime minister, who is seeking re-election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that\u2019s what we will do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

During the interview, Mamdani also complained about media coverage of his wife Rama Duwaji, who has come under fire for her long history of bashing the United States and Israel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This includes since-deleted social media posts\u00a0praising Palestinian terror groups<\/a>\u00a0and others attacking US service members for assisting the Jewish State.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Syrian-American artist also once liked a social media post claiming Hamas\u2019 rapes of Israelis during\u00a0the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack<\/a>\u00a0were a \u201cmass hoax.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is her own person,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cShe is an incredible artist, and yet so much of how she engages with the world is framed through her being my wife.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu, however, remains\u00a0unfazed\u00a0by Mamdani\u2019s threats.<\/p>\n

In a recent radio appearance, he accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he should look at who he\u2019s condemning, who he\u2019s praising. He\u2019s condemning Israel, the one democracy that stands shoulder to shoulder with American values,\u201d the prime minister<\/a>\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0during an interview<\/a> this week with Sid Rosenberg on 77 WABC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho does he champion? Hamas, that calls openly to massacre every Jew on earth, that conducted that horrible massacre [on Oct. 7, 2023], the worst massacre on Jews since the Holocaust.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also said Mamdani \u201cdoesn\u2019t care\u201d that \u201cthose who hate the Jews and Israel ultimately hate America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd in\u00a0fact, I\u00a0think secretly, he hates America,\u201d the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

Danny Danon,\u00a0Israel\u2019s ambassador to the United Nations, fired back at the mayor on Saturday,\u00a0slamming Mamdani for \u201cfailing to govern New York\u201d by ignoring his mayoral responsibilities and instead \u201cincit[ing] hostility and generat[ing] headlines by attacking the State of Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if anyone should be arrested, it is\u00a0@NYCMayor\u00a0Zohran Mamdani,\u201d he said in a post on X.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Netanyahu is also expected to visit DC later this month to meet with President\u00a0Trump.<\/p>\n

He was initially scheduled to arrive this\u00a0weekend but\u00a0postponed the visit after Sen. Lindsey Graham\u2019s funeral was pushed back to accommodate the flood of national and international dignitaries seeking to attend.<\/p>\n
