BYD has recorded a 124 per cent increase in sales, taking it to within a whisker of overtaking Toyota to become the number one brand in Australia. BYD sold just shy of 19,000 cars in Australia last month, a figure that puts it well ahead of the likes of Ford, Mazda, Hyundai and Kia. <\/p>\n
Electric cars represented more than 23 per cent of the market in June, when more than 32,000 EVs were delivered to Australians.<\/p>\n
Tesla\u2019s Model Y was the More popular car on sale by a wide margin.<\/p>\n
China is the clear winner in the car game, with sales up by about 70 per cent, backed by increases for manufacturers including Geely (up 494 per cent), Leapmotor (up 151 per cent) GWM (up 20.5 per cent), and Chery (up 76.8 per cent).<\/p>\n
Korea\u2019s Hyundai and Kia have both recorded sales increases for the year to date. <\/p>\n
But Japanese brands are struggling. <\/p>\n
Toyota is down by 21.4 per cent, joined by Mitsubishi (down 25 per cent), Nissan (down 32 per cent),<\/p>\n
Mazda (17 per cent), Subaru (down 25.6 per cent), Suzuki (down 20.9 per cent).<\/p>\n
