The work covers active aerodynamics, exterior parts and airflow management for the Chinese automaker\u2019s coming European model launches.<\/p>\n<p>The contracts follow technical cooperation between the two companies in China dating back to 2019. That existing relationship carried the business into Europe rather than a competitive regional tender, and R\u00f6chling says it established the engineering basis for localised production support.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-472211\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/leapmotor-active-grille-shutter-roechling-automotive-1024x590.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"590\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Martin Sch\u00fcler, Chief Executive of R\u00f6chling Automotive, said Leapmotor \u201cknows our engineering and production capabilities from our successful cooperation in China\u201d. The European work will also cover locally produced air-water separation components.<\/p>\n<p>European tariffs on Chinese-built electric vehicles have pushed manufacturers towards local assembly and local sourcing. Leapmotor\u2019s European activities run through Leapmotor International, the joint venture in which Stellantis holds a majority stake, giving the brand access to established industrial relationships in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Neither contract value nor volumes were disclosed. The signal is strategic rather than financial, because localisation has become a supplier qualification round that component makers with European plants and Chinese track records are best placed to win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Why this matters:<\/p>\n<p>A European supplier nominated from an existing China relationship is the Leapmotor localisation model in miniature. R\u00f6chling\u2019s prior cooperation with Leapmotor since 2019 means the nomination carries genuine technical validation rather than being a new commercial relationship.
