The pills, which come in red and green, were found to contain a very high amount of PMMA (para-methoxymethamphetamine)<\/a>, a substance that is similar to MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine), the active ingredient in ecstasy. <\/p>\n Read More on News<\/p>\n “This Trump pill is extremely dangerous,” Trimbos spokesperson Anniek Groothuis told Newsweek on Saturday.<\/p>\n In the U.S., PMMA is a schedule I controlled substance, as classified<\/a> by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as is MDMA. But PMMA is slower acting than MDMA and this could encourage users to consume more thinking the initial pill failed, risking an overdose. <\/p>\n Hours after being taken, users can feel nausea, increased heart rate, convulsions and an extremely elevated body temperature. <\/p>\n \u201cDo not use this pill at all,\u201d Trimbos said, although it said there had been no known instances of severe illness or death among potential users. <\/p>\n Producing, selling, and using ecstasy is illegal in the Netherlands but a 2024 government report indicated over half a million people had consumed it that year. <\/p>\n \u201cIf someone has taken this pill anyway and experiences severe effects as a result, quickly call the medical services (first aid or ambulance) and try to calm the person in question down as much as possible,\u201d the Trimbos statement added, according to a translation. <\/p>\n Groothuis said: “We have received this particular pill at multiple drug-testing locations throughout the country. Since users generally submit only one pill for testing, it is possible that larger quantities of this pill are in circulation. One side of the tablets shows Trump’s face and his surname on the reverse.
