August saw major manufacturing investment announcements from Micron<\/a>, Lam Research<\/a>,\u00a0Rolls-Royce<\/a>\u00a0and Amkor<\/a>. Here are six other notable announcements ranging from DeltaX to Stellantis, in alphabetical order. <\/p>\n

DeltaX <\/p>\n

DeltaX, a global provider of advanced battery energy storage systems, announced it will spend $141 million<\/a> to establish its North American manufacturing headquarters in Monroe, Georgia.\u00a0According to Gov. Brian Kemp, the facility will create about 250 jobs and will be sited on about 25 acres of the Piedmont Regional Industrial Park. <\/p>\n

The first phase of construction will include a 100,000-square-foot battery energy storage system assembly facility, and additional manufacturing facilities will follow to produce key components. The company is also planning to build a separate North American corporate office building on the same campus, Kemp said in a statement.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“The decision by DeltaX to locate its headquarters here and further grow Georgia’s energy sector is another testament to our position at the forefront of innovation and emerging technology,” he said. “Projects like this are possible because of our cutting-edge research universities, world-class workforce training, and reliable energy infrastructure, and I look forward to the opportunities it will bring to the people of Walton County.”** <\/p>\n

Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, DeltaX develops advanced battery energy storage systems, intelligent battery management systems and artificial intelligence-powered energy management technologies.\u00a0Markets for its products include utility-scale projects, renewable energy integration, AI data centers and other commercial and industrial applications. <\/p>\n

Genentech <\/p>\n

Biotechnology company Genetech announced plans to spend about $750 million to double the size of an existing new device fill-finish manufacturing facility at its 75-acre campus in Hillsboro, Oregon, which was established in 2006. <\/p>\n

The investment will bring new end-to-end device-filling capabilities and support the development of new medicines, the company said in a news release<\/a>. It is expected to create 250 “high-wage” manufacturing jobs and support approximately 200 construction jobs in Oregon, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2031. <\/p>\n

Genetech said the Hillsboro investment follows the recent completion<\/a> of its new manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina, and is part of Roche and Genentech’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing and research and development.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The Hillsboro facility will support the manufacturing of prefilled syringes, autoinjectors and other advanced drug delivery devices, which play “an increasingly important role in how medicines are delivered and can provide patients with more convenient ways to receive treatment outside of a hospital setting,” the company said. The facility will support both high- and low-volume device filling for a broad swath of Genentech products. <\/p>\n

Innio <\/p>\n

Innio announced plans to invest more than $300 million in its Waukesha, Wisconsin, facility and create more than 500 jobs. <\/p>\n

The site will feature new engine assembly capabilities to support increasing domestic demand, the company said in a news release<\/a>. Other expansion plans include the construction of an advanced engine testing facility of more than 80,000 square feet, along with office and shop floor renovations.\u00a0The current Waukesha campus spans approximately 1.7 million square feet and includes nearly 890,000 square feet of manufacturing and operational space. <\/p>\n

“The expansion underscores our commitment to local value creation in the United States and to meeting the growing demand for decentralized energy solutions that are helping shape the future of energy,” Roger George, Innio’s Waukesha CEO said in a statement. <\/p>\n

The company’s engines power data centers, industrial operations, power grids and other major infrastructure projects across the U.S. Innio said the expansion will bring production closer to its customers and to better serve the data center market. <\/p>\n

Niron <\/p>\n

Niron Magnetics announced it had received a $150 million loan<\/a> from\u00a0the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to advance construction of its Sartell, Minnesota, magnet manufacturing plant. It said the funding will support “construction, equipment and operational readiness activities”\u00a0to increase domestic production of rare-earth-free permanent magnets.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The facility will be Niron Magnetics’\u00a0first full-scale magnet manufacturing plant and is slated to begin production in 2027. It is expected to create about 175 full-time jobs and strengthen domestic supply chains supporting artificial intelligence infrastructure, automotive, industrial and consumer applications.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Niron Magnetics said its relationship with SMSC began more than 10 years ago after an introduction by the University of Minnesota’s Research and Innovation Office and Technology Commercialization office. <\/p>\n

“This financing helps accelerate construction of our Sartell manufacturing plant and brings us closer to establishing a domestic source of permanent magnets for critical industries,” CEO Jonathan Rowntree said in a statement.\u00a0The financing is in addition to a $150 million conditional commitment<\/a>\u00a0from the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Strategic Capital. <\/p>\n

The company is also conducting final site selection for a subsequent U.S. manufacturing plant capable of producing 10,000 tons of annual capacity that is expected to break ground in 2028. \u00a0 <\/p>\n

SK hynix <\/p>\n

SK hynix held a held a ceremonial groundbreaking<\/a> this month for its advanced packaging fabrication and R&D facility for AI memory in the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, Indiana. The plant, which was announced in 2024 and is estimated to cost more than $4 billion<\/a>, will be the company’s first AI memory production hub in the U.S., it said in a news release. <\/p>\n

The facility will be built on a 133-acre site and house a high-bandwidth-memory production line and its Advanced Packaging R&D Testbed. SK hynix said it\u00a0plans to supply next-generation HBM that has undergone onsite packaging and testing to its U.S. customers starting in the second half of 2029. The fab will support about 1,000 employees when production begins. <\/p>\n

“The historic investment into Indiana was propelled by Purdue’s track record of innovation, research excellence, and long-standing success in developing talent and advancing research through partnerships with industry leaders,” SK hynix said in an emailed statement. <\/p>\n

The company said it has signed a partnership framework agreement with Purdue focused on advanced packaging research and development.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Stellantis <\/p>\n

Stellantis announced<\/a> it would spend an additional $200 billion in its Belvidere Jeep Cherokee assembly plant, bringing its total intestment in the plan to $800 million.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The company said the announcement is a significant step toward restarting production at the plant, which has been central to labor discussions since it was idled in 2023<\/a>. More than $60 million has been spent through July on various upgrades and operational assessments, according to Stellantis. <\/p>\n

The next-generation Jeep Cherokee will utilize Stellantis’ new, modular STLA One platform, which eventually will be used for more than 30 models in the company’s lineup. The company said the new platform will enable more efficient manufacturing and reduce development costs, among other benefits. <\/p>\n

Pilot production of the Cherokee is targeted to begin in 2028 and retail production in 2029. <\/p>\n

“Launching the next-generation Cherokee on STLA One allows us to deliver a more competitive product while leveraging the strength of our U.S. manufacturing operations,” Stellantis CEO and North America COO Antonio Filosa said in a statement. “Selecting the right product architecture, timing and execution path supports our growth strategy and creates the best long-term outcome and stability for our employees, customers and stakeholders.” <\/p>\n
