Lufthansa Technik and Emirates have extended their agreement for the base maintenance of the airline\u2019s Airbus A380 fleet. Under a new multi-year contract, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, the global MRO company\u2019s competence center for widebody base maintenance in Asia, will continue to perform heavy checks on Emirates\u2019 A380 aircraft through 2030.
\nThe program is already underway at Lufthansa Technik Philippines\u2019 existing maintenance facility in Manila, where two dedicated base maintenance lines have been assigned to Emirates. The airline will also become the launch customer for Lufthansa Technik Philippines\u2019 new facility at Clark International Airport, once operations commence.
\nThe agreement is one of the largest by value in the history of Lufthansa Technik Philippines and highlights the strength and continuity of the relationship between the two companies. As the world\u2019s largest operator of the Airbus A380, Emirates has relied on Lufthansa Technik\u2019s extensive expertise in heavy maintenance for its flagship double-deck aircraft since 2023. To date, Lufthansa Technik Philippines has successfully completed more than 30 A380 checks for the airline.

Harald Gloy to become CEO of Lufthansa Technik AG
\nHarald Gloy will become the new CEO of Lufthansa Technik AG. He will succeed Soeren Stark, who is retiring, effective February 1, 2027. The company\u2019s Supervisory Board appointed the 54-year-old graduate engineer to lead the global market leader in aircraft maintenance services for a five-year term. He has been a member of the company\u2019s Executive Board since 2022, serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO).<\/p>\n
After completing his studies in Berlin and the United States, Gloy (54) began his career at Lufthansa Technik more than 25 years ago as a graduate engineer. Through numerous leadership roles in logistics, corporate strategy, aircraft and\u2014later\u2014engine overhaul, and subsequently as head of the components business, he gained a comprehensive understanding of the company.
\nIn January 2019, Gloy joined the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG as Chief Operating Officer (COO), and from 2021 onward, he also served as Chief Human Resources Officer and Director of Labor Relations. He then returned to Lufthansa Technik in 2022 as a member of the Executive Board. As Chief Operating Officer (COO) and \u201cAccountable Manager,\u201d he is responsible for all operational processes and IT for the company. In addition, he took over responsibility for human resources as Director of Labor Relations on the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik for three years until 2025. A decision on Harald Gloy\u2019s successor as COO on the Executive Board will be made as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
