{"id":44143,"date":"2026-09-08T16:53:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T16:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/44143\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T16:53:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T16:53:07","slug":"air-cairo-orders-fifteen-a320neo-directly-from-airbus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/44143\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Cairo orders fifteen A320neo directly from Airbus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ch-aviation.com\/airlines\/CCE\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Air Cairo<\/a> (SM, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ch-aviation.com\/airports\/1585\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cairo International<\/a>)  has placed its first direct order with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ch-aviation.com\/airlines\/AIR\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Airbus<\/a>, signing a firm agreement for the purchase of fifteen A320neo aircraft at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026. <\/p>\n<p>In a joint statement with the manufacturer issued on September 8, 2026, the majority <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ch-aviation.com\/airlines\/MS\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EgyptAir<\/a>-owned carrier said the order marks a strategic shift towards direct ownership, which it expects will provide greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency as it expands its network.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This agreement represents a natural next step in Air Cairo&#8217;s growth,&#8221; commented chairman and CEO Hussein Sherif. &#8220;Combining owned aircraft with our leased fleet gives us greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency as we scale up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;The A320neo will provide the capacity needed to expand our network, serve the growing demand for travel to and from Egypt, and support the country&#8217;s aviation and tourism sectors in close partnership with Airbus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Beno\u00eet de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry, Airbus EVP for commercial aircraft sales, confirmed that the transaction was the first direct acquisition from Air Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>The statement did not specify any specific aircraft variant or variants beyond &#8220;A320neo&#8221;. Contacted by ch-aviation, an Airbus spokesperson declined to elaborate.<\/p>\n<p>Air Cairo has grown from seven aircraft five years ago to a fleet of 41 today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ch-aviation.com\/news\/168019-air-cairo-to-triple-fleet-amid-ambitious-network-expansion\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with ambitions to operate<\/a> more than 130 aircraft by 2034.
