{"id":4444,"date":"2026-04-21T03:18:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T03:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/4444\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T03:18:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T03:18:12","slug":"dutch-semiconductor-major-nxp-plans-rd-centre-in-mohali-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/4444\/","title":{"rendered":"Dutch semiconductor major NXP plans R&#038;D centre in Mohali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Global automotive semiconductor major NXP Semiconductors is exploring the feasibility of setting up a research and development centre in Mohali, following a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and top NXP leadership in the Netherlands on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>NXP Semiconductors is a leading global semiconductor company headquartered at Eindhoven in the Netherlands, specialising in secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications with a major focus on the automotive, industrial, IoT and mobile markets. Founded in 2006 as a spin-off from Philips, it provides specialised chips, power management and sensors to over 30 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Flanked by Punjab\u2019s Industries, Commerce, Investment Promotion, Local Government and Power Minister Sanjeev Arora, the Chief Minister met NXP Executive Director and Country Manager (Netherlands) Maurice Geraets and Head of Public Policy Dr Ankit Pal, pitching Mohali as a prime location for the Dutch multinational\u2019s R&amp;D footprint in India while citing the city\u2019s strong talent pool and its rapidly emerging electronics system design ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>The CM also apprised the NXP delegation of the state government\u2019s plans to develop a Silicon Valley-like ecosystem at Kalkat Bhawan, Mohali \u2014 strategically located near the international airport and IT City.<\/p>\n<p>NXP leadership has been invited to visit Punjab to assess collaborative opportunities on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions also covered a potential tie-up on the NXP Startup Challenge Programme in partnership with Startup Punjab, aimed at nurturing startups and co-developing advanced technology solutions.
