On display, a unique GT2 Stradale featuring the Eldorado livery alongside the original 1950s single-seater.

Modena, September 9, 2026 – The third edition of TUTTO BENE Hillclimb—a one-of-a-kind exclusive event that brings together automotive culture, a global lifestyle, and a celebration of the local territory—provided the prestigious setting for Maserati to unveil its new commemorative liveries honoring 100 years of the Trident emblem. The liveries are inspired by the iconic 1958 Maserati Eldorado, the first single-seater in Europe to be sponsored by a brand from outside the automotive world: Eldorado ice cream.

The new liveries are available for both a one-of-a-kind Maserati GT2 race car and the Maserati GT2 Stradale super sports car, underscoring the deep connection between track and road that has always set the Trident apart.

This concept takes shape in the brand’s “from track to road” philosophy, which sees motorsports as a research and development laboratory where technologies and solutions are developed before being transferred to road-going models. To further underscore this approach, the Trident brand is displaying an exclusive Maserati GT2 Stradale with an Eldorado livery, enhanced by a black hood featuring the original Tipo 26 badge, carbon-fiber elements, and black wheels with a central locking nut in the same color, emphasizing its racing soul in the exclusive setting of the Lake Maggiore event. The livery faithfully evokes the 1958 Maserati “Eldorado” with the number 10 sported by Stirling Moss, the Eldorado logo and “cowboy face,” and the Tricolor that starts from the front hood slit. The 1958 Maserati “Eldorado,” meticulously restored in its original white livery and now part of the Collezione Maserati Umberto Panini in Modena, is displayed alongside this special GT2 Stradale.

Completing the Trident’s lineup at the TUTTO BENE Hillclimb is the Maserati MC20 Cielo, which will take on the famous ascent along an impressive 9-kilometer route on the private Borromea road, winding through spectacular curves from the foothills to the summit of Mottarone. There will be no stopwatch and no race against the clock: the essence of the initiative is captured in the slogan “slow down to go fast,” an invitation to rediscover the purest form of driving pleasure, immersed in the landscape and shared with fellow enthusiasts. The experience is further enhanced by the Trident’s open-air super sports car and the unmistakable sound of the V6 Nettuno—a symbol of Maserati’s enduring passion for racing.

Davide Baldini, Head of Maserati Fuoriserie, stated: “With these new commemorative liveries, we pay homage to an important chapter in our history, reinterpreting it through the contemporary language of Maserati Fuoriserie. The Eldorado single-seater was a milestone in motorsports, and today its spirit lives on in the GT2 and GT2 Stradale, bringing together heritage and innovation, track and road. It is precisely this passion for racing that has inspired our creations for 100 years and set us apart on the international automotive stage.”

Special liveries: a bridge between past and future

Created in collaboration with the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program, the new liveries inspired by the Maserati Eldorado mark the second act of a project celebrating two highly symbolic anniversaries: 100 years of the Maserati emblem and 100 years since the brand first competed in motorsports.

It was 1926 when the Maserati Tipo 26—the first car in history to feature the Trident logo on its hood—competed in and won its class at the Targa Florio, with Alfieri Maserati behind the wheel. A century of passion, innovation, and success finds its natural heir today in the Maserati GT2, which has brought the brand back to victory in closed-wheel racing. The first livery in this commemorative series made its debut last May at the Monza Circuit, Italy’s “Temple of Speed,” drawing inspiration from the legendary Maserati 250F. Driven by Juan Manuel Fangio, the 250F secured two Formula 1 World Championship titles, in 1954 and 1957, as well as memorable victories in Argentina, Belgium, Monaco, and France, helping cement its legendary status. Other great names also found success behind its wheel, including Stirling Moss, who triumphed in Monaco and Italy in 1956. The 250F was also the car that captured the heart of Maria Teresa de Filippis, the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1958. Now, the baton passes to the new liveries dedicated to the historic Maserati 420/M/58, better known by its famous nickname, “Eldorado.”

The iconic 1958 Maserati “Eldorado”

The single-seater was the first example of modern sponsorship, where the car was painted in the colors of the partner company, abandoning the traditional color assigned to each country by the International Federation. This was a real revolution for the day, of vital importance to the future of motorsport, which from that moment on opened its doors to new financial backers. Maserati received a sponsorship proposal from Gino Zanetti, owner of the Eldorado ice cream company, who was determined to promote his brand on the international stage. The Maserati 420/M/58, chassis number 4203, was thus finished with a cream-colored livery, instead of Italian racing red. Two large Eldorado inscriptions in black appeared along the sides of the car. The logo with the face of the smiling cowboy was positioned in the center of the nose and on the sides of the rear fin. The long silhouette of the “Eldorado” also bore the name of the driver chosen to race it: Stirling Moss, one of the greatest drivers in the history of motorsports, and a former official Maserati driver. In the space of a few months, the engineer Giulio Alfieri created the “Eldorado”. The engine, derived from the V8 unit mounted in the 450S twin cam models, had its displacement reduced to 4,190 cc, generating 410 hp at 8,000 rpm. The tubular chassis was derived from that of the highly successful 250F, while the aluminum bodywork, hand crafted by Fantuzzi, was characterized by an aerodynamic vertical fin behind the cockpit. The car weighed in at 758 kg. On June 29, 1958, at the Monza track, the race was held in three heats to decide the final points table. In the first heat Moss finished 4th. In the second, he crossed the line 5th. In the final heat, however, his steering broke and the Maserati slammed into the guardrail. Taking into account the three heats and the total number of laps completed, Moss nonetheless took seventh place in the end. He walked away unscathed from the crash and, all things considered, the “Eldorado” too suffered only limited damage, proving the value of its solid structure. In 1959, the “Eldorado” was modified and entered into the Indianapolis 500. This time it was finished in red, the color denoting Italy in competitions, while retaining the Eldorado sponsorship. The inexperience of the gentleman-driver, Ralph Liguori, meant that the car failed to qualify. The Indy 500 was dear to Maserati, which took victory in 1939 and 1940 with the driver Wilbur Shaw behind the wheel of an 8CTF.

Maserati S.p.A.

Maserati produces a complete range of unique cars that are immediately recognizable by their extraordinary personality.
