{"id":5003,"date":"2026-04-22T15:27:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/5003\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T15:27:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:27:09","slug":"boeing-regains-delivery-lead-over-airbus-as-revenues-jump-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/5003\/","title":{"rendered":"Boeing regains delivery lead over Airbus as revenues jump \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/boeing\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/boeing\/\">Boeing<\/a> posted a 14 per cent rise in quarterly revenues after delivering more planes than European rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/airbus\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/airbus\/\">Airbus <\/a>over a three-month period for the first time since 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On Wednesday, the US aerospace giant reported first-quarter revenues of $22.2 billion (\u20ac19 billion), up from $19.5 billion over the same period last year, as it continues to make progress in its lengthy turnaround campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"> Its $7 million loss for the quarter compares with a $31 million first-quarter loss last year, beating analysts\u2019 estimates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Boeing delivered 143 commercial aircraft to customers in the first three months of this year, up 10 per cent on 2025. The US group shipped 29 more jets than Airbus, its widest lead since 2018, as its rival struggled with supply-chain bottlenecks, particularly engine shortages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Revenue at Boeing\u2019s defence, space and security division rose 21 per cent, buoyed by a surge in global defence spending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe\u2019re building on our momentum with a strong start to the year and growing record-breaking backlog across our business,\u201d said chief executive Kelly Ortberg.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/netherlands\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1754647931518-c07d65db-55b5-463e-ae51-976300c5837e.jpeg\"\/>Kerry Group CEO on the impact of Middle East conflict, AI and drive to keep bread fresher for longer<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The company has been dogged since 2018 by the fallout from two deadly crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia involving the 737 Max jet, as well as an incident in January 2024 when a door plug on an Alaska Airlines 737 Max blew out in mid-air.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">But Ortberg, who took over in August 2024, has since shored up Boeing\u2019s finances, improved industrial relations and stabilised 737 Max production.
