PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FROM THEIR HOME BALCONIES, MAKING DINNER, LOOKING DOWN AS WHAT IS GOING ON HERE AS WE TRAVERSE THE TOWN IN OUR BUS, ON OUR WAY TO A STADIUM. SO IT\u2019S JUST A REAL EXAMPLE THAT THE DUTCH FANS SHOW UP. NO MATTER WHERE, NO MATTER WHERE WE PLAY IN THE WORLD, OUR ORANGE LEGION WILL BE THERE. ABSOLUTELY. NOW, FOR ALL THE BUSINESSES LISTENING OUT THERE, WHAT SHOULD THEY BE DOING TO MAKE THESE DUTCH FANS FEEL AT HOME? PREPARE FOR THEM? YEAH, WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE DUTCH TERM FOR COZINESS AND COMING TOGETHER. AND I THINK THAT\u2019S THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. WE WANT TO MAKE THE BARS HERE FEEL LIKE A PLACE IN AMSTERDAM OR IN ROTTERDAM OR IN EINDHOVEN. I HAVE TO MENTION ALL OUR CITIES HERE BEFORE I GET FLAK FROM OUR DUTCH FANS BACK HOME. BUT YOU KNOW, AND THAT MEANS, YOU KNOW, PLAYING ANDRE HAYS OR DUTCH MUSIC, COMING TOGETHER, HAVING SOME GOOD DUTCH FOOD OPTIONS, SOME DUTCH ENVIRONMENT THERE, A LOT OF ORANGE, OBVIOUSLY, AND THE FANS WILL FLOCK TO THAT. OKAY, NOW I KNOW HERE AT BOULEVARD BREWING THEY HAVE AN ORANGE BEER. HOW DO YOU THINK THE FANS WILL REACT TO THIS? His bright suit has garnered plenty of attention, and it’s decked out in patches and pins. He’ll certainly be wearing it when the Netherlands plays in Kansas City this summer. And he won’t be the only one. He, along with thousands of other Dutch soccer fans, will make their way to KC for the World Cup. The Netherlands will set up their base camp in the Kansas City area as it prepares to face Tunisia on June 25. And on that day, an orange wave will make its way through the city. “As I try to say to all the Americans, it’s going to be something you’ve never seen before,” Oordt said. “Think of the Super Bowl as a very small, small event compared to what we’re going to have here in Kansas City.” Oordt described his team as “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” throughout their World Cup trials, but the fans are ready for their luck to change. “The Dutch fans show up no matter where, no matter where we play in the world.
