Reijnen was also expected to join as a set-piece specialist, but his move collapsed due to work permit issues.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"585\" data-end=\"799\">Reports in the Netherlands now claim Slot still wants to bring Reijnen to Anfield once he completes further coaching qualifications, with a potential move expected to progress quickly once that process is finished.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"801\" data-end=\"1000\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The situation is being interpreted as another sign of continuity under Slot, despite outside speculation linking Liverpool with other high-profile names such as Xabi Alonso.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"801\" data-end=\"1000\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/sport\/football\/football-news\/liverpool-stance-backroom-staff-change-33865429\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool Echo,<\/a> Etienne Reijnen could become an option for Liverpool as part of Arne Slot\u2019s backroom staff.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"801\" data-end=\"1000\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The report claims that \u201cReijnen could become an option with Slot continuing to evolve a coaching staff that has already seen a number of changes since his initial appointment as head coach in the summer of 2024. Reijnen is well known to the Liverpool boss having worked with him at Feyenoord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"261\">Etienne Reijnen\u00a0played with Liverpool boss Arne Slot at PEC Zwolle before later joining his coaching staff at Feyenoord in late 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"263\" data-end=\"471\">Reijnen\u2019s role focused on analysis and technical support for Slot, but after Slot\u2019s move to Liverpool, the former centre-back remained at Feyenoord under manager Robin van Persie.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"606\">Now operating mainly as a set-piece specialist, Feyenoord have scored 11 goals from set-pieces this season while conceding just four.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"757\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">By contrast, Liverpool have scored 15 set-piece goals but conceded 16 across the 2025\/26 campaign, highlighting a key area of focus for Slot\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"114\">There has been growing speculation over the composition of Liverpool\u2019s backroom staff. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daveockop.com\/latest-news\/giovanni-van-bronckhorst-leading-candidate-for-feyenoord-job\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Assistant coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been linked with a possible return to Feyenoord<\/a>, though not in a head coach role.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"285\" data-end=\"563\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Meanwhile, John Heitinga \u2013 who previously replaced van Bronckhorst \u2013 has been mentioned as a potential return option after being out of work since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daveockop.com\/latest-news\/tottenham-hotspur-release-former-liverpool-coach\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">leaving Tottenham Hotspur <\/a>following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daveockop.com\/latest-news\/ajax-officially-sack-john-heitinga\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a short spell at Ajax.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"205\">The former Netherlands defender made more than 200 appearances for Ajax before going on to work as their reserve team boss and interim head coach.
