It looks like a credible result overall – although revenues of US$3.2b were what the analysts expected, NXP Semiconductors surprised by delivering a (statutory) profit of US$4.43 per share, an impressive 22% above what was forecast. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company’s performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there’s been a change in sentiment towards the company. Taking into account the latest results, the current consensus from NXP Semiconductors’ 29 analysts is for revenues of US$14.1b in 2026. This would reflect a decent 11% increase on its revenue over the past 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to surge 35% to US$14.24. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of US$13.5b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$12.01 in 2026. So it seems there’s been a definite increase in optimism about NXP Semiconductors’ future following the latest results, with a nice gain to the earnings per share forecasts in particular.<\/p>\n

With these upgrades, we’re not surprised to see that the analysts have lifted their price target 14% to US$295per share. It could also be instructive to look at the range of analyst estimates, to evaluate how different the outlier opinions are from the mean. Currently, the most bullish analyst values NXP Semiconductors at US$345 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$200. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.<\/p>\n

Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry<\/a> itself. It’s clear from the latest estimates that NXP Semiconductors’ rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 16% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2026 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 3.4% p.a. over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 21% per year. It seems obvious that, while the future growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, NXP Semiconductors is expected to grow slower than the wider industry.<\/p>\n

The most important thing here is that the analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, suggesting that there has been a clear increase in optimism towards NXP Semiconductors following these results.
