Arne Slot looks set to remain at Liverpool despite mounting pressure and reported interest from Dutch team Ajax.<\/p>\n

Slot has endured a torrid second campaign at Anfield, following his success in guiding the Reds<\/a> to the Premier League title last season. Sunday’s 3-2 defeat<\/a> to Manchester United<\/a> leaves Liverpool languishing in fourth place, a considerable 18 points adrift of Arsenal in first. The club’s poor run of form has brought Slot’s future into sharp focus.<\/p>\n

Yet it appears he will not be departing any time soon. According to Dutch media reports, Ajax has been eyeing a move for Slot as it seeks a permanent successor to Fred Grim.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the Eredivisie outfit made an approach for Slot, only to be swiftly turned away by Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The 47-year-old remains firmly entrenched at Anfield and has no desire to join Ajax at this point in his career.<\/p>\n

He is contracted to the Merseyside club until 2027. Previous reports have indicated that the Anfield hierarchy are intent on standing by Slot and will afford him the time needed to turn the club’s fortunes around.<\/p>\n

Offering his perspective on Slot’s future, former Liverpool stalwart Dietmar Hamann said: “I’ve heard that Arne Slot will be there next season.<\/p>\n

“I think there’s a case to be made that maybe a change of manager should happen or should have happened.<\/p>\n

“But Liverpool have always been very loyal to their managers. He won the league last season, of course, so I think it’s a decision I can live with, and I think most fans can live with, if they have a decent finish to the season.<\/p>\n

“Then obviously, you need to see what’s happening in the summer after the World Cup with players going, obviously Andy Robertson leaving, Mohamed Salah leaving. But yeah, I think it’s a decision that is understandable.<\/p>\n

“For probably the first time in a long time Liverpool fans are split, it’s a very knowledgeable fan base and Liverpool doesn’t usually sack managers.<\/p>\n

“That’s obviously changed in the last 10 or 12 years because the game has changed and managers have to leave quicker than they did 20 or 25 years ago.<\/p>\n

“But usually when the fan base turns, it’s a matter of time before the manager has to go.<\/p>\n

“Now with Arne Slot, I think it’s split because of what he’s done last season.
